Let's Give Rina A Little Help!

For those of you who know Rina Deych, you already know how hard she works and how much she does for both humans and animals. She gives so much of herself and now she's found herself in a position where she needs some help.

Rina was in a car accident on Feb. 3, 2014. A van slammed into the back of her car when she was stopped at a red light. Since then, she's been having terrible lower back and neck pain, with numbness of the left hand and pain in her left arm. She's been getting physical therapy 3 times a week, epidural injections to the neck, Orthovisc (oil) injections to the knees, and she had radio frequency ablation to the lower back. While the RFA has helped the lower back, the epidural injections did not help the neck and left arm. So on June 9th, she had a cervical discectomy with fusion and instrumentation to C5 - C7. She is in quite a bit of surgical pain, and has to wear a hard cervical brace for 6 weeks (even when she sleeps). When the neck brace comes off, she is supposed to go for physical therapy and possibly rotator cuff surgery.

Because of her medical problems she hasn't been able to work (she's an R.N.) and she just found out that she has lost her position at the hospital where she works and if she doesn't return within a month, she will be terminated altogether. If she is able to return within a month, they will place her in another position at the hospital, if one is available.

She has 15 cats, a dog, two parrots, and feeds three feral cat colonies everyday. She is in severe credit card debt due to her mortgage, animal food, vet care and bills (electric, car insurance, phone, etc.).

Even caring for her animals is difficult. Her son, who would normally be able to help her care for her animals, has a serious back injury (two herniated discs and a pinched nerve). He has been waking up at 4am every morning to help her care for all of her animals and feed all her feral colonies.

She's been abiding by all of her (3) doctors' recommendations and trying to get well so that she can go back to work.

Let's show Rina how much we appreciate all she's done for everyone and give her the help she needs. She would never ask for herself, which is why I set up this page for her. No amount is too small - every dollar helps.
