My name is Ria Pradhan, and I’m a senior in high school.

The 2016 election woke me up to realize I needed to contribute to my community in tangible ways.
I wanted to find ways to inspire other like-minded young people to realize that we can make a difference.

For the last two years, I’ve dedicated my heart and soul to Agents of Change, a student-run organization that empowers young people to become service-driven civic entrepreneurs. Today, as the President of this organization, I’m writing to ask you for your help to keep our program alive.

Agents of Change has over 120 students that are working across different issue areas, from fighting discrimination to improving mental health & wellness.

To make an impact, we need resources: from renting meeting rooms to putting together resource kits, our projects require us to raise money. Every program we put together requires some degree of financial support.

Let me give you an example:

For the last year, we’ve been partnering with a middle school in East San Jose, Boeger Middle School. We started our engagement by teaching their students a five-week web development course that blended in a mindfulness curriculum. Our work was even featured in an op-ed on the Silicon Valley Newspaper! Their principal called us a few weeks ago to offer us a space to build a community garden, a project that we have been ready to start for some time but have not had funding for tools, plants, and other supplies. This new project at Boeger Middle will allow us to teach young kids about environmental sustainability & healthy lifestyles! With your help, we can make projects like this happen.

Until recently, costs associated with those programs were covered because we were operating as an extension of Congressman Ro Khanna’s campaign. We parted ways in the fall of 2018 because we wanted students to have their own voice and because we didn’t want our longevity to be dependent on political cycles.

We are currently a certified 501(c)(4)  non-profit organization!
Donations are not currently tax-deductible.

-We plan to apply for  501(c)(3) status in 2019 so we can offer tax-deductions on your generous donations.
-This application process is costly so we need your support right now at any level you’re able to give it.
-Only 501(c)(3)’s can open up non-profit accounts on GoFundMe so I’ve set up this page with my personal account.
-All donations will be given to Agents of Change Bay Area Civic Activism.

Thank you for your support!
