Kidney Cancer Sucks the Big One

Donation protected
My husband was diagnosed November 2012 with Stage 4, non-curable Renal Carcinoma; Kidney Cancer, he currently suffers from direct effects of Cyber Knife Radiation: Hearing loss from tumor in brain, pain in pelivc area from tumor, had a kidney removed immediately after diagnosis, this supposedly helps keep tumors from advancing as rapidly as they can, has nodules in lungs and raised lymph nodes, has partial sight loss as a direct result of cyber knife to brain tumor.  Is currently on Sutent one of the drugs out of seven; each drug going forward has shorter ability to keep Cancer controlled, he has no taste, numb on side of face with tumor (that we just found out has just continued to grow again along with the pelvic tumor and lymph nodes in chest after Cyber Knife treatment) has facial palsy also direct result of treatments which may or may not correct itself, because of this one of his eyes does not shut all the way and now Drs are talking about sewing magnets or the corner of eye since he is starting to damage Cornea because eye does not blink and has to put in drops (like vaseline) every hour. We have been 100+ visits between Drs. and treatments like hyper baric chamber (40 dives) to hopefully halt any more damage to eye.  The drug (Sutent) he is currently on and with the exceptionof taste problems, burning sensation in mouth, pain everywhere he has hair (yes folks everywhere) growth on his feet (can also affect palms of hands) he seems to be tolerating itwell so far we will no more when he starts his second bout the drug cost  is $12,000 for a 6 week course, 4 weeks on 2 weeks off, thank goodness our Insurance picks up some of the costs. He has been a real trooper, strongest man I know, never took an aspirin before all of this, and no symptoms before Cancer had Metastisized all over his body.

All I want of course, is to get his story out there, and if anyone knows of a motorcycle shop that would loan him a bike for an hour or half day or full day this would be my wish for him.  He has expressed how he would love to have that "Easy Rider" feeling of driving down the highway without a care in this world.  We do have a local bike shop: Harley/Dyna in Media, PA, I haven't approached them yet but probably will at some point.

And please, all prayers and well wishes greatfully appreciated. When he first got sick he received many cards and well wishes, although many still keep him in their hearts and prayers some from a distance, lots of times there is the big rush in the beginning and then concerns sort of drop off, or seem to anyway, so even a facebook mention Geoffrey Bennett or Gwen Bennett, [email redacted];  [email redacted] will really help lift his spirits, and we do appreciate and thank everyone who has stood by him, gifted him weekends away, Mitsubishi Air Conditioning, an Ipad so he can keep in touch with his family in England; who also gifted him a trip home since he had not been able to return for 15 years.

In closing just want to say my husband has been through Hell and it doesn't seem like, for the moment;(we always have hope,) that his health will get any better before it gets a lot worse, supposedly "textbook" says he has 6 months to 2 years. He is the strongest person I know, with a tender heart, best Father to his two sons, Tim, 22, and Jeremy, 21, wonderful friend to many, and still keeps his witty sense of humor through it all, even though he cannot smile or eat or drink well because of the facial palsy (the smile is the main thing that bothers him at the moment) He hasn't missed a day of work and carries on through it all!!  I love him with all my heart and soul, "Hang in there Baby"!!

Thank all of you for hearing my story, just telling it sometimes can be really therapeutic for the family who has to sit by and watch this terrible disease steal your family member away, way too soon!!
