Last summer he was lucky enough to receive a scholarship and attend the Idyllwild Arts summer camp. The Idyllwild Arts Summer Camp is one of the few music camps that include harp in their programs.
At first we were worried about how he would
handle the camp (he is high-functioning autistic). He struggles with change and independence but when he came back from camp, I saw how beneficial it was for him as a growing and learning experience (a dramatic progress). Being immersed with other harpists gave him comfort and a coping system. When he came back from camp he not only grew in his musical skills but as a person as well.
Since Antoine has returned from camp, he can not stop talking about Idyllwild: the wonderful teachers, his new friends, and the talented groups he was involved in.
As much as we would like to send him back this year, we can not afford it due to excessive medical expenses from my mother’s health. Our medical expenses have been piling since 2016 (3 unsuccessful surgeries with complications).
I want to help my brother but I can not afford the cost of the camp as a college student.
I spoke with Antoine’s teacher and she told me how Antoine needs camps like Idyllwild to build his application for USC.
I would hate for him to miss out on this opportunity, especially because it will help him achieve his dreams; which is why I have created this fundraising account.
Every donation is highly appreciated. Every little donation will make a huge difference in the end.
Thank you for your time and compassion.
