Richard Storey is organizing this fundraiser.
Rich & Pete are going to walk over 100 miles to raise money for the Antivenom Swazi Foundation.
The walk will leave Caernarfon on 14th July and follow the Llyn
Peninsular coastal path for around 95 miles and then back to Caernarfon
over 4-5 days (~110 miles in total).
Many of you are aware of
the work that Antivenom Swazi does, but for those who dont, here is a
brief outline. More info can be found at www.antivenomswazi.org
Antivenom Swazi Foundation aims to raise funds to treat snake bite
victims in Swaziland. Many of the bite victims are children and the lack
of available antivenom often results in horrific injuries and/or death.
Antivenom is expensive, even by western standards. One vial of
antivenom costs around £45 & it takes around 5 vials to treat
someone who has been bitten by a black mamba.
Foundation founders, Thea Litschka-Koen and Clifton Koen hope to
establish an antivenom bank that can provide free antivenoms to snake
bite victims throughout the country, and plans to maintain emergency
stocks in two locations so that antivenom can reach any patient who
needs it by road within 2 hours. They are involved in public education,
teaching rural people to avoid snake bites and about the importance of
seeking medical attention quickly, rather than delaying care i.e.
seeking out local 'Witch Doctors'.

photos on the facebook page (warning they are graphic!) or visit their website
to see why your donations are much needed.
