Anthony's Wheelchair Accessible Van

About one year ago, Anthony's life changed drastically. He was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This is a degenerative condition, so as Anthony uses his muscles, they continually deteriorate. Anthony's muscles don't repair themselves like muscles normally do. There is no cure for this condition, and it is a devastating disease. Even walking can cause Anthony pain and damage his muscles irreparably, so he uses a wheelchair to get around. Anthony is very lucky to have a power wheelchair that he can control with just the push of the button.

Anthony loves the independence of his power chair! However, without a handicap van, we have no way of transporting him in his power chair. We want Anthony to be able to enjoy the world in his power chair, but without transportation, it's difficult for him to do that. Due to his limited mobility (which will continue to decrease as he ages), a handicap van is vital for Anthony to get from place to place.

We were surprised to learn that there is no disability program or government assistance or tax break that can help us afford this necessary purchase. Due to other medical-related expenses, it is difficult for us for take on the monthly payments for this van. So if you are able to give, we would appreciate your help more than you will ever know!
