Anthony’s Battle Back

On Sunday 9/02/18  in Allegheny county 14 year old Anthony DiCioccio was in an ATV accident up at his fathers property. While Anthony has always been a safe cautious rider, he unfortunately reached the unexpected that day. The tie rod controlling the steering broke causing malfunction extending him over the handle bars, flying head first into the ground. All while the ATV flipped a few times proceeding to land on his left leg. Scared and alone for 15 minutes Anthony was screaming for help. He was at the bottom of the property so the campers on top were not able to hear him. His guardian angel carried his voice for the land neighbors at the bottom of the hill to hear, and eventually find him to call for help. After paramedics arrived it was imminent for a mercy flight to Children’s hospital Buffalo. Unaware of the full injuries family and friends were in a panic. Once flown in and attended to by the hospital team, the injuries known were a broken right clavical collarbone, broken right wrist, and left leg femur shatter.  In excruciating pain Anthony was put into emergency surgery. Which included placing plates and screws into the right clavical collarbone, and a rod in the left femur to put the leg back into place. Although surgery went well and we are blessed to have him alive Anthony is facing a long road to recovery. As he was suppose to be attending St Mary’s High School this  year as a freshman, he will now be home schooled 6 months to a full school year per therapy and recovery. As an avid athlete he will not be able to play the active sports he has been involved in, until further notice. Trying to keep his spirits up and focused we want to show him the love of giving back. This traumatic experience has been a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings, with the support of others we can help give back to Anthony’s fight for medical and mercy care. Thank you kindly!
