Anthony's Type 1 diabetes journey

Donation protected
Anthony is an intelligent, sweet 13 year old.  His journey began March 25, 2018.  He was taken to the hospital because of rapid weight loss & was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  There is no cure or remission...... Type 1 Diabetes is an incurable auto-immune disease. Only 5% of people with diabetes have type 1. It is a disease that requires 24/7 lifelong monitoring.  Anthony's blood sugar was at 693 when he arrived at the hospital (normal is 100).  After 4 days he was released but is still being monitored daily by his physician. His new routine consists of constant blood sugar monitoring, very strict diet, and a minimum of 4 insulin shots daily.  Anthony is facing his challenge head-on and is learning to monitor his sugar and give himself insulin shots. Anthony's blood sugar levels continue to fluctuate. As he begins to deal with the challenges ahead it would be a great benefit to him to be able to have a Dexcom Monitor. The Dexcom Monitor would monitor his glucose every 5 minutes which would do away with finger pricks and would also allow his mother to keep an eye on his sugar levels while she is at work.  With a Dexcom monitor he would also need the watch for the alerts.  Along with the monitor cost, hospital/ ambulance bills Anthonys mother has also had to take an unpaid leave of absence to help care for him until he is stabilized and has adjusted to his new routine which has put a financial hardship on the family. We are asking for donations to help with medical costs and to help with the financial burden they are experiencing. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
