Anthony Crimeni Jr

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail.  For those that know me, you know well that I'm not one to send out these types of e-mails.  But it's an important topic so I thank you in advance.  It has to do with our dear friends the Crimeni's.  As many of you know Anthony and Valerie's son, Anthony Jr, is currently in the NIH located in Bethesda, MD.  This is where he has recently under gone a bone marrow transplant.  The donor was his younger brother Christian.  This was a risky yet necessary step in order to provide Anthony with a chance of full recovery and a quality of life that has escaped him for so many years.  Anthony is 20 yrs old now and we've been friends with the Crimeni's for about 12 yrs.  We were together, along with so many of their friends and family, when Anthony was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at 12 yrs old.  Since that time it has been a long and difficult journey for this young man.   While he did go into remission since his initial bout with cancer it has been anything but an easy journey.  He has encountered multiple illness's resulting in constant and extended hospital stays over the years.  The lack of a quality of life in conjunction with a prognosis of a life time of on-going issues is what led Anthony Jr and his family to this decision and move forward with the bone marrow transparent.

They knew going into the procedure that the transplant wasn't without risks.  Unfortunately, Anthony has experienced some severe side effects that has resulted in a bad hemorrhage as well as other complications.  As a result even further risky procedures and an operation was performed.  He has been on a respirator for the past 2 weeks.  He has made recent strides and the doctors are hoping to remove the respirator and bring him out of sedation soon.  He still has a long way to go.  What is most important is if all can continue to pray for Anthony and his family as he continues this journey.  It is still too early to tell if the transplant will be successful but that is the ultimate goal.  Prayers are so powerful so whatever your denomination or persuasion might be please continue to pray for his complete and full recovery.

To say that this has taken a toll on the family is an understatement.  His Mom Valerie had to take a leave of absence from work and has been at his side continuously.  His Dad Anthony also more recently took a leave from work as nothing is more important to him than being by his son's side at this critical time.  How his brother Christian and sister Alexa have been able to remain focused on their college studies is beyond me, but this is what Anthony Jr would want of them.  They  go down to spend time with him every chance they get.  Also, as you can imagine this situation has presented the family with unexpected financial hardships.  It is for that reason I have decided to start a go fund me account.  No monetary value can ever substitute what the family is going thru and as I said before, if you presented the family with a choice between your prayers and a donation, I know the Crimeni's choice would be to pray!

I'm hoping that this fund will alleviate some of their other concerns as they remain in Maryland with Anthony Jr.  I have provided a link below for those that wish to donate, any amount I'm sure would be greatly appreciated. God bless you all and please continue to pray for Anthony Jr.
