Dale's Fight Against Melanoma

Many of you know at least part of Dale's story. In May 2007, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma and given 6-9 months to live. We set off to Vanderbilt in hope of treatment. Many surgeries later Dale graduated college and started seminary. Just a few weeks into his first semester, he collapsed playing soccer. In the next few days, we were in Nashville preparing for brain surgery as the cancer had spread. Two days before his craniotomy, I began miscarrying our third child. The surgery was a success, but he's been left with a severe seizure disorder, ongoing treatment, more surgeries, radiation, and no idea when or where the cancer will pop up next. Case in point, we just learned he has another brain tumor.

His story is truly a testament to the faith we have in God, the prayers and support of our loved ones, and an amazingly dedicated staff at Vanderbilt. Because of the seizures and other health issues, it is difficult to work steadily. I do my best to remain gainfully employed while juggling all the needs of our two little girls and our home.

Dale has insurance, but we still have to pay deductibles and copays for much of his care. All these years of medical expenses have amassed a huge bill at Vanderbilt and a few other medical providers. Many people inquire about ways to help. By donating, you can help alleviate some of the cost, provide for travel, and all the other expenses that go along with fighting this disease.
