STORY
in 2013 I went to India to visit AAsha children's home - founded by my Brother and his wife ( Josh and Anna) and was BLOWN away at the work and impact they were having there, and how much the home had changed the lives of the children there. stret children were now in school, and being cared for.
in 2015, a devastating earthquake hit Nepal, killing 9000 people and leaving 22000 injured.
Many children were orphaned during this disaster. Josh and Anna quickly went to work beginning the legal process of starting an orphanage and creating a home for these kids. THIS YEAR that orphanage has finally opened it's doors and is home to 12 children rescued from the streets, plus two house parents. These children now have a home, clothing, food, an education and love.
The only thing they don't have, is funding.
WE CAN CHANGE THAT. Together, I believe we can raise enough money to support this home for a year! and help get it "on it's feet"

WHY 26.2 miles?
-A Marathon is 26.2 miles. I am running this in ANTARTICA to raise awareness and funds for Himalaya Daya children's home in Nepal.

WHY $26,200?
-$26,200 = Cost to operate the orphanage for a year + Cost of the marathon.
WHERE DOES THIS MONEY GO?
1) SPONSORSHIP.
Your money is going directly toward child sponsorship.
$1440 = one child's annual sponsorship ($120 per child per month x 12 children
$17,280 is the final annual operations cost of the Nepal children's home.
2) TRIP FUNDING
I have self-funded this portion of the fundraiser through my photography business. Some of my brides have so graciously paid to this fundraiser over the course of the year, funding my trip costs.
$1300 - flights to Argentina
$7690 - Antartica marathon tours, race entry, flight to Ushuaia, 7 research vessel trip from Argentina to Antarctica. I know. stupid expensive.
$9240 Total travel costs

RUN WITH PURPOSE
There are 158 MILLION orphans in the world. that is a staggering number. A number that makes me want to tune out everything "orphan" sometimes and pretend this problem doesn't exist. I mean, I can't adopt a child right now, so what can I do? (long story shot we were actually working towards adoption! but then life happened and that has been set aside for later.. anyway)
My brother Josh and his wife Anna started an orphanage in India, and are just launching another one in Nepal. You might not be able to adopt an orphan, but you can sponsor one for 6 whole months for $1000. These kids have come off the streets and found refuge, love, a home, along with the necessities like food, clothing, and education.
The coolest thing about this? Josh, Anna, and everyone else on "staff" are volunteers - so your money goes straight to the kids.
