Because of your generosity, X did not have to rely on mice feces infested food trays served to the incarcerated population via the chow hall. With your donations, X was also able to help feed other incarcerated people who lacked access to clean food. The funds that were raised last year made a huge impact on helping to get X through the year eating safe food. <span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">Because of the potential health and safety concerns of</span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;font-weight:bolder;"> mice infestation and feces-infested food trays, milk cartons etc.</span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;"> where Wayland is located, he along with other incarcerated people, do not eat the prison-made food. Even under these</span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;font-weight:bolder;"> conditions</span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">, Wayland never thinks twice about sharing what he has with others who need support. The incarcerated population has the right to adequate and nutritious food.</span>

<div style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;"><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">The prison kitchen is still infested with MICE, while </span><span style="font-weight:bolder;letter-spacing:0.0085px;">food trays and other food items are covered in mice droppings and urine </span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">before they are rinsed off and served to the incarcerated population. </span><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">In the morning, when breakfast is delivered, cartons of milk continues to be served with mice droppings stuck to them. </span><br />

<div style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">Wayland is vitamin D deficient. He continues to wash every carton of milk given to him with soap and pours it into a cup because he will not drink out of the carton given the conditions. Because Wayland is not financially stable, he eats once a day, often the same thing each day. He budgets what he has as best he can to make food and water last as long as possible.

<div style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;"><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">Incarcerated workers don't earn enough money to afford a daily meal from the canteen even when they work 8 hour shifts and 40 hour weeks. Therefore, even if X or any other incarcerated individuals were to rely on the $1 a day pay, it is not nearly sustainable.</span><br />
