Dear beloved family and friends,
I can still recall kneeling in the dirt of Malawi two summers ago, thinking to myself, "This is what I want to spend the rest of my life doing; loving the broken, seeing the lost come into the knowledge of our Heavenly Father, and drawing them into the Kingdom." I'm called to share the message of Jesus; and that is of love. Love looks different in every country, and at the Harvest School of Missions, I will be equipped with the skills, knowledge, and encounters that will train me up to minister, and love the 'least of these', the poorest of the poor, and those that are in need of love from the Father, oh that He would use me.
I've been given the opportunity to attend a life-changing missions school at Iris Ministries in Pemba, Mozambique, from June 1-August 5, 2014. I've sought the Lord about it continually, and through many dreams, words, and encounters it has been confirmed that this coming year is my time to go. The Harvest School of Missions is led by Heidi and Rolland Baker, two of the most influential people in my walk with the Lord. This school exists to train up, equip and send out radical laid-down lovers of Jesus who carry the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth, and students who are learning how to bring the good news to the poor, look after the widows, heal the sick, bring freedom to the captives, who stop for the one and believe for the multitudes. My heart comes alive when I think of myself being poured out for the Kingdom, His love seeping out of my heart, overflowing onto those around me. The cry of my heart is to be sent out; that God would use me mightily for His glory.
During the two months I am there, I will be involved in outreaches to unreached people groups in the bush, preaching the gospel, praying for the deaf (amongst many other needs), and I will gain understanding on how to minister cross-culturally; with hands-on experiences in jails, hospitals, and orphanages. I will be living among the poor, on the Village of Joy base that houses the children that are my brothers and sisters, the beautiful faces who have been loved back to life.
An opportunity like this only happens once in a lifetime, requiring financial and prayer support from many people. I need to raise at least $6,500 for me to go, by April 2014. This calculates to being 65 people willing to give $100, or 130 people to give $50; but of course, any size of a donation will help tremendously. This cost covers my flight, room and board, local transportation, a diet of basic African food, vaccinations, visas, supplies, and books for the school. Will you partner with me on my journey through your finances, and/or prayers? I would encourage you to pray, and ask the Lord what He would have you give; incline your ear to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
