Annie Gosbee Field Dedication - plaque & ceremony

Donation protected
We look to raise $10,000 to pay for a bronze plaque honoring Annie Gosbee as we name the Essex MA town baseball field after her.    Annie was born in Essex in 1935 and grew up playing ball on the town field.   Through grit and determination she fulfilled her dream to play in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, the organization made famous in the movie "A League of Their Own."   She was an all-star for the Grand Rapids Chicks and also played for the Rockford Peaches.  The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY has a special exhibit dedicated to the women of the AAGPL.   Though Annie passed away in 1976 a small group of family, friends, and baseball fans have been inspired by her story.  The funds that we raise will help pay for a bronze plaque displaying her likeness and story that would be similar to those one would see at the Hall of Fame.  We also will be inviting young ball players to our dedication in the Fall of 2021 and have developing plans for t-shirts for each young player.  100% of any excess funds will be donated to Essex youth softball and baseball in Annie's name.
