Anni, Sofia & Rhya have lost both of their parents

I’d like to introduce three beautiful granddaughters: Annika (18), Sofia (16), and Rhya (11). These girls lost their father, Matthew Johnson, in 2016. Their mother, Angela Johnson just passed as well on January 19, 2022. We are heartbroken that these three kids will no longer have either parent to support and take care of them. All funds for this GoFundMe will go toward the ongoing support and education of these three girls. We are asking that donations be made here instead of flowers.

 

Annika has been working part-time since the moment she turned 16. She graduated with honors and was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. She was president of the Recycling Club and donates her time helping children at Primary Children’s Hospital. She picked up a second job this summer at the Amazon warehouse and has worked tirelessly to pay for her car, insurance and contribute to family living costs. Annika was planning on attending Oregon State to study computer science but family and financial difficulties have caused her college plans to be deferred until the fall of 2022.

 

Sofia is currently a Junior in high school and is taking many AP, Honors and academically rigorous classes and keeps busy with extracurricular activities. She has been a volunteer in Peer Court and participated in DECA. Sofia has struggled with some health issues and severe kidney stones which have been a hurdle, but she has worked hard and is doing great in school in spite of the challenges.

 

Rhya is excelling in school with a 4.0 GPA. She is an elite, level-8 Junior Olympic gymnast. Prior to her mother’s death, she spent 20 hours a week at her gym. Her sports aspirations are on hold as she works through her grief but we are glad she has gymnastics to fill her time. Rhya is cheerful, wonderfully independent, self-motivated, and it’s easy to forget she is only 11.

 

The Johnson girls have lost both parents but they have their large extended family all who love and care about them so much. These girls could use a little support while preparing for their future without parents. There are a lot of details and arrangements that are still in process.

I am Dave Howell, grandfather to the three girls.  I and Richard Johnson, their grandfather on their father's side, will be jointly receiving money on their behalf and we will together, along with input from their legal guardian, use the funds to support them for necessities, college and school expenses, medical bills, vehicles and gas, and living expenses that they will incur now that their parents have passed.
