Annette's Cancer Treatment Bills

Donation protected

Anyone who is fortunate enough to know Annette Poirier knows that she always puts others needs before her own.    She is a very kind, caring, and genuinely thoughtful person who always faces life's challenges with a smile.   Whether you've known Annette  a lifetime or just a few short years, like myself, it is impossible not to be affected by her unique personality.

I started working with Annette in March, 2014 and quickly, we hit it off.  Everything seemed to be going smoothly until she was diagnosed with Stage 3b breast cancer in December that same year.  Having been healthy her whole life, this understandably came as quite a shock knowing what a tough road physically, and financially, would lie ahead.  Never one to back down from a fight, not even one as monumental as cancer, Annette braved multiple rounds of chemo, radiation, breast, and lymph node removal surgeries all with as much positivity as she could muster.  Even on her darkest days, she kept a smile on her face and continued coming into the office  when she felt up to it.

Annette endured her treatments for most of 2015 and finally received some good news that she was in remission from the neck, down.

This good news, however,  was relatively short-lived.  In  February 2016, Annette discovered that the cancer had metastasized to her brain.  Again, she courageously went to battle, this time needing a quarter sized tumor  removed near the base of her skull.  The surgery was successful, but the recovery time was grueling.  There were  other smaller sized, inoperable tumors that could only be treated by radiation therapy.  Currently, the ones that remain are still under close observation and have not grown any larger.  She will likely remain on Herceptin treatment to keep things under control going forward.

As you might imagine, health insurance only provides a small amount of security, especially in the face of a critical illness.    With that said, Annette has faced significant financial hardship trying to pay down the medical bills that keep on coming.  More recently, she has been denied a followup MRI due to delinquency status.

Having listened to Annette's dire situation, I decided I want to help her as she has helped others.  It's not fair to go through something so unimaginably terrifying only to find out you can't afford the care you so desperately need to keep fighting.

Please consider donating what you can to help Annette reach her goal.  This is still only a fraction of what her medical expenses entail, but I truly believe we can all make a difference, no matter how small.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity!!!!
