Anne's home and medical fund

This is my mother Anne.  In addition to being the woman that raised me she is also a loving grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

My mother has had to endure many hardships throughout her life which more recently include surviving a double-breast mastectomy due to breast cancer (which had her battling for her life through radiation and chemotherapy) and the death of her husband, partner, and best friend after many years of marriage.  Even during those difficult times she somehow always managed to be there to help others during their own times of need, but now she needs YOUR help.  

On June 24th, 2017 Anne was rushed to the emergency department after being discovered unresponsive and on the floor for over two days.  Now, nearly three weeks later she remains in the intensive care unit on a ventilator fighting for her life.  Cardio-pulmonary issues (heart/lung, that is), Infections, skin, nutrition, and other complications have severely debilitated her and she will need continued intensive treatment in the hospital in the oncoming weeks, and afterwards will require even more intensive rehabilitation a nursing home in order to regain her strength and independence to a degree that will allow her to return home.  From there, she will also likely need ongoing outpatient therapy to keep her there.  

All of this intensive treatment means that there will be significant additional medical expenses that will need to be paid for out-of-pocket.  In addition we also need help to cover expenses while she is in the hospital so that she continues to have a home to return to at all.  

With Anne being hospitalized and unable to work as well as having a limited, fixed income means that we may not be able to pay for the expenses of managing her affairs while she is in the hospital, which include paying a mortgage, health insurance premiums, property taxes, and other expenses that need to be paid while she is in the hospital.  In addition, being Anne's only child and the person chosen to be her healthcare representative and the one managing her affairs while she heals, I need to travel away from my own young family in order to be with her to ensure that she receives the appropriate care, to manage her home, and to make sure "Panda" (her pet dog and current best-friend) is well cared for.  Because we are a 6-hour drive away from each other that also means a difficult time and financial burden for myself and my family.  

We need your help to assist in covering these expenses now...  Medical bills, home and travel expenses, and unpaid time off from work mean that this unforeseen hospitalization could result in significant debt for us.  Family medical leave is great, but being that it is unpaid also creates a significant limitation on how much time I can spend helping my mother through this life-changing hospitalization.  I'm asking family and present/future friends of myself and Anne to please help me to help my Mom through this!
