Annascaul Arts Festival - Oct 2nd

Donation protected

Hi,

This is a cause that would really appreciate your help. We are fundraising for a community arts  festival Oct 2nd in Annascaul

As part of Annascaul Adventures, we wish to organize an arts event in the village on October 2nd. The intention is to create a festival that shows that little villages like Annascaul can be vibrant and colorful. We too, would like to create an event that can become a good reason to visit and provides a sense of fun to those that do. To do this we need  funds. A small donation from you would be of immense importance to running these activities this year.  To  register for the event please go to https://bit.ly/3nEW0Yk  at EventBright.

Annascaul Aventures is a community group  that was set up to work on events that would encourage sporting and educational activities for families in the village and surrounding areas. We have delivered running events in the village and on Inch beach,  clean up sea side events, family walking events, and eco outdoor events foraging and identifying wild food types that are safe to eat and enjoy. Annascaul Adventures is registered with National Biodiversity Ireland with Tidy Towns, Clean Coasts. We also have a family-friendly garden allotments area.

As the name indicates we are based in Annascaul on the Dingle Penninsula. The village is home to Tom Crean  (Artic Explorer) and Jerome O Connor ( Sculptor ). However, it is also home to many other great people that have their own stories. Extraordinary people that have always lived in the village and those that moved away. Those that have families, those that have businesses, and those that have newly come to the village.

We all have a strong "Grá" for this community and we want it to succeed and be a place to come and appreciate. We all believe that Annascaul is a village that can match its own anywhere worldwide and be unique at the same time.

The event that we are running is a spin-off from similar activities that were held at Hunt Museum ( Limerick ) and at Draíochtadare ( Adare ) recently. Their events were to invite the local public to come to a day's outing where participants could compete in the competition. The Annascaul Adventures theme is slightly different.

In our case, we are inviting schools and parents to come and meet with many professional artists and see how an artist will interpret a scene. Each artist will have a theme on the day and all participating will draw the same subject but are free to interpret it any way they wish. The professional artist will give their interpretation of what they are doing and why they choose a certain technique. The mentor will be able to advise on creative aspects also. The participants will also indicate their own preferences and ask for guidance on how to deliver what they are picturing/imagining.

There is no right answer but all get a chance to provide an opinion that is valid and honest. The best pictures will be on display throughout the village and the winner will get a small prize of 100 Euro.

The reason we are running this campaign is that we wish to raise funds to pay for the 10 artists we will have on the day. Artists need to be paid for their advice and input. It is not fair to cajole or coax artists to help out. If they are invited to participate and help, then their costs need to be met.

Annascaul is a little village on Dingle peninsula, that has a GAA club, a Singing club, Heritage club and vibrant Art club.

However, many wish to get going again after the Covid lockdowns we have all experienced. Annascaul Adventures believe that this October 2nd festival is a good starting point. The sleep is over and we can now come out and enjoy a fun-filled day in a village that wishes to welcome you.

We believe our costs will be low as it will be run as effectively and efficiently as possible. We are asking for volunteers, professionals artists, participants and permanent sponsors to come on board and help. However, to get this rolling we are also asking for a small donation to pay for the following

Artists costs - 1500

Insurance - 400

Music Costs 600
