Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing this to tell you about an exciting opportunity I have this Spring, and ask for your help.
I have the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Peru with a group called Global Health Initiatives through my employer, Centura Health on a medical mission trip.
As a nurse, I would be part of a community health team that would be seeing around 200 patients per day in remote villages along the Amazon River. All of these villages are only accessible by boat, with no road access, leaving the people who live there with little to no health resources.
I have always wanted to travel and volunteer and now I am getting the chance to do so and use my skills as a nurse! One of the reasons I am so excited and intrigued about this program is that Global Health Initiatives started providing volunteers and helping the people of Iquitos and surrounding villages in 2006 and continues to have a close relationship with the people there, providing crucial resources and medical volunteers to help improve the life and health of the community. They don’t just go down and when done, leave and forget about the people of Iquitos. Rather, they have done tremendous work and even built a small hospital called Clinica Ana Stahl to help provide essential healthcare for the people in this area.
The trip will cost around $3,600 for me alone and I am writing to ask if you have the ability to donate, if you would be willing to give what you can. I could use all the help I can get in realizing this dream of mine. I would greatly appreciate any amount you could give. In return, you will know that you have contributed to providing vital health resources to many deserving people. My final payment will be due the beginning of March.
