Hi, my name is Ryan Harris, and those who know me know I am very passionate for grappling and martial arts. So passionate in fact, that for the past two years I have volunteered my time to coach the local high school wrestling team, as well as begin work to structure my own club team, and to help steward the development of a University team.

I am creating this fund today to help raise money for a wrestling mat I wish to use for the development of the University and Club teams. While the High school has its own set, the university has space, but no mats or funding for mats at this time. The mats I wish to purchase are from another separate club I had volunteered at previously. They no longer have the means to store the mats for their uses and have reached out to me as a potential buyer, as well to keep the mats local.

If I could simply buy the mats myself I would. It is not always easy asking for help from the wider community, but in this case without community support there will be no way for the team to put the money together in time.

Having mats means being able to practice our sport. In wrestling, mats are similar to having ice to skate on or a court to play in. Without them the teams are very limited in what they can do. With that being said, having these mats means everything to the teams. The mats provide the space in which the athletes can develop their themselves and their skills. We wish to put these mats to great use.
