Savanna's Struggles

This is the story of a beautiful girl named Savanna. Before the age of 2 we noticed that she was not hearing us and after being tested had to have tubes put in her ears because she was hearing like she was under water. Early Intervention came to the house to help with speech and taught her sign language. By the age of 3 Savanna was developmentally delayed in speech and fine motor skills and was then placed in a Pre-K class called SHAPE at school. By age 5 Savanna went to Kindergarten and showed some progress but not enough to go to 1st grade and was placed in a transitional 1st grade class. By this time Savanna had many struggles. She couldn't focus on any tasks, tell you how she was feeling or about her day, read or write and would repeat words or phrases over and over like a broken record. She is not aware of her surroundings and is a danger to herself. She requires constant supervision. It was at this time that her Pediatrician suggested medication for ADHD. Savanna is now 11yrs old and has been diagnosed with 1)ADHD, combined type 2) Oppositional defiant disorder 3)Separation Anxiety disorder of childhood 4)Mixed learning disorder with developmental delay in speech, motor areas and 5) Autism spectrum disorder and sensory integration disorder. Savanna has been on numerous medications, none of which have helped her to be able to function. Savanna has always been a happy child but her attitude and behavior have become increasingly worse this past year and we felt that instead of progressing, she is regressing and unfortunately her teachers agree. I recently read a book called Disconnected Kids by Dr. Robert Melillo and this is how I learned about the Brain Balance program to help children with Autism, ADHD and other neurological disorders and wanted desperately to try this program especially because it is all done with NO Medications. We took Savanna for an evaluation at the center where we were told that her brain was functioning at the level of a 3yr old. I can't tell you how upsetting and heartbreaking this was to hear. They explained that Savanna would need to come 3x a week for an hour each visit for a total of 108hrs and are confident that in that time they can bring her up to her current age. Along with going to the center we would have a program to follow at home and they would contact the school to give them a program for her as well. The only problem is the cost, $18,000.00 So we are setting up this Gofundme.com page for any help and any amount that is given would be a huge blessing and help us get her into this program as soon as possible to end Savanna's Struggles.
