URGENT HELP NEEDED TO DEFRAY COST OF CARE
Ann Geiger is a caring, hard-working 49 year old woman who has always prided herself on taking care of others. She held two jobs for many years and participated in caring for a disabled brother for many years. She has been a loving and proud aunt to her two nephews who she spent time with at every opportunity.
Ann was enjoying a normal life with her boyfriend Mark, cat Capone and dog Molly. At the beginning of this year, she suddenly suffered debilitating headaches and loss of balance that resulted in hospitalization and diagnostic tests. The tests revealed four separate lesions and surgery was ordered to examine the tissue at the end of February. Ann and her family were hopeful for good news that the lesions would be benign. They were encouraged and positive when the operating surgeon thought it was simply an infection in the brain the body formed a tumor around to guard against further infection. The post-surgery recovery presented a new challenge and Ann was left unable to walk or put any weight on her left leg. Ann still remained optimistic that she would have a full recovery.
The families worst fears were realized when the pathology report came back 3 weeks later with a diagnosis of glioblastoma. Ann’s family while devastated by the news didn’t even take time to be sad. They mobilized around her as a team with the limited resources they had to go the extra mile for Ann as she always had for those around her.
Since the surgery and diagnosis, Ann has been out of work. She has been in and out of the hospital repeatedly. She is at home but immobile. She is still lucid most of the time and still keeps her optimistic outlook.
Ann needs 24 hour assistance. Her family has exhausted all financial resources to pay for the care required without financial help. Ann’s is a strong and prideful person who would not want ask of this for herself. Her family is reaching out because they are unable to bear the financial burden of her medical care without the help of others.
