Hi,
My name is Anmol Mohara and I am a Drummer. I'm currently studying at the Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford, and also completing a junior jazz course at the Royal Academy Of Music in London.
I am one of only three UK musicians to be offered a place at the prestigious Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony in California this August. So, I'm aiming to raise £2000 by the end of July , which will cover my course fee and flights to San Francisco. This will be an amazing week for me to learn from respected jazz artists and clinicians, along with amazingly talented young musicians from the US, UK and Australia.
About Me
When I was 5 years old I started playing conga (self taught) for cultural programs in Nepal. When my family saw my interest in music, they decided to send me to a music school. At the age of nine, I auditioned at the Nepal Music Centre and received a residential scholarship. Since they didn't have a conga syllabus, I started learning drumset. In 2013, I completed Rockschool's Grade 8 on drumset, earning 97% - the highest mark recorded at the time.
In 2015, I moved to the UK with my family and started taking drums lesson with Danny Mullowney. In 2016, Gareth Lockrane asked if I was interested in auditioning for the junior jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music. After a successful audition, I became a member and started working on my jazz vocabulary. The junior jazz course has allowed me to explore the world of jazz with extremely talented musicians of my age group, and most importantly, has provided me with opportunities to attend master classes from some of the most respected jazz musicians in the world, including Dave Holland, Clarence Penn, Chris Cheek, Tim Garland.
In 2017 I won the national competition "UK Young Drummer Of The Year" , which also gave me a chance to perform at the UK Drum Show in Manchester.
My future goals are to continue to study music at a high academic level, play with respected musicians in different parts of the world, and share my knowledge and passion with other musicians.
The Brubeck Summer Jazz intensive educational program will help me broaden my understanding of jazz, share experiences with incredible musicians, and I believe it will also strengthen my future career as a musician.
I would really appreciate and be thankful for any donations (small or large) that would allow me to take part in this incredible educational program.
