HARM REDUCTION INITIATIVE

In response to BC's declaration of the 'public health emergency regarding Fentanyl overdoses', ANKORS is attempting to purchase a HPLC-UV(High Performance Liquid Chromotography-Ultra Viole)
.
This accurate tool will help to determine if Fentanyl is laced in substances, and eventually accurately determine all substances in a product.

History:

ANKORS has been selected to be a pilot project site where drug checking/ pill testing is available year round in community. The Nelson based non-profit has a mandate to "work from a wellness model;  through Support and advocacy; Harm reduction, prevention and education; Delivery of programs and services that are client-centred and focused on the whole person; and Partnerships with others."

ANKORS is also globally recognized for their reverse sponsorship collaboration with 'Shambhala Music Festival'.  ANKORS has been providing harm reduction services and pill testing since 2002 at the festival, traditionally using the reagent testing model.
Now with the public health emergency regarding overdoses, ANKORS would like to meet people where they are at, and provide the best and most accurate results to help people stay safe.

THIS COULD SAVE LIVES!

The spectrometer will be available to the community year round through ANKORS. Furthermore, it is a mobile unit and will be able to assist them at Shambhala Music Festival with their cutting edge harm reduction service delivery.

Shambhala does not directly provide pill testing.  They do however, financially support ANKORS to provide an amazing service; that helps to educate and provide upstream services to help festival guests make informed choices.
Shambhala prides itself on their model of 'full spectrum harm reduction' service delivery.  As a team under the public safety model, ANKORS works with 'The Options for Sexual Health',  Outreach,  Sanctuary,  Women's Safe Space, and Camp Clean Beats. The team consists of  over 250 trained volunteers and a mandate to meet people where they are,  to provide education, resources and safe spaces in a non judgemental environment.

Shambhala is Aug. 5-8th, 2016 and we are hoping to provide accurate spectrometer readings this year.

Please help us in our goal to raise these funds! We are waiting to hear back about the total cost, so we are starting at 20,000. Thank you.

PREVENT OVERDOSES, HELP UP REACH OUR GOAL!
