Brian Hamm Ankle Recovery

Two years and 4 months ago at 22 years old I was admitted to the hospital for an infection called cellulitis. Cellulitis is a flesh and bone eating infection, meaning if I didn’t catch it, it would have killed me or taking my foot from me entirely. I grew up skateboarding, biking, running, riding and everything in-between. 
In result of the infection the doctors were able to save my leg and foot, but unfortunately all the cartilage in my ankle allowing the joint to function was taken. 
This affects my day to day life tremendously. My foot and ankle joint is constantly in extreme pain and no physician or therapist has been able to offer a treatment or even a way to lessen the pain. I have pushed myself to not let this affect me or stop me from
living my life but It’s time to start saving up to try the next step in recovery. Technology is advancing rapidly in this field and I’m hoping in 1 to 2 years there will be affordable care for my ankle, but as of right now, stem cells and trials for synthetic cartilage is the only treatment around. These aren’t covered by insurance and can cost a very large amount of money. I have been putting my self through college and working full time regardless of the Injury, but it is starting to take a toll on the rest of my body. My hips, my right ankle and the rest of my lower and upper body feels the affects of this injury and it’s time I do something about it. I have just started my own welding company and hope to expand and make something for myself regardless of what happens with my ankle. But one day I would hope to be able to afford and get the treatment I need to be myself again 100%. Thanks for reading. Anything helps tremendously.
