Animal Food Bank - Pets of AB Fire Evacuees

Hi!

My name is Nicole and I am the Founder of the Animal Food Bank. We are a non-funded, volunteer based organization working in Western Canada that provides pet food, supplies and vet care to pets of low-income and homeless individuals, along with other organizations in need.

We also provide this support to pets of evacuees, as one of the few organizaitons that can send out mass amounts of pet food to a wide geographical region. We have volunteers, food and freight carriers standing by to get pet food out to AB evacuees.

100% volunteer operated and non-funded, we can't do this without your support.

Why donate to us?

We know all too well (based on the flood and fires in BC in 2021) that pets are forgotten in emergency management action plans. Evacuees are provided emergency funds support, but it is minimal and forcing them to use it to purchase pet food only makes them have to choose if they will eat, or their pets will.

We are not limited by red tape and policy and so can help whoever we need, whenever. For example, if a pet is evacuating and has been injured, we can step in to pay the vet fees without having to waste precious time seeing an "on staff" vet (we don't have one). Basically we can, and do, act.

Actions speak louder than words and we've sent out over 2,000,000 meals in the last three year. No staff. No funding.

We sent out over 10,000 lbs of food into the BC floods and fires in 2021. No staff. No funding.

Our mission is greater than pet food and we are nimble and able to pivot quickly to delivery necessary services. The last thing someone should have to worry about when evacuating with their pet, is how to feed or care for the pet.

Please help us by donating to our 2023 AB Wildfire Pet Evacuation Fund. There are currently over 100 fires burning in AB. We need to be able to respond in an instant and cannot do without your help.
