OUR DEAR, ANGUILLA FRIEND OF 25 YEARS AND FORMER HOUSEKEEPER FOR LA PETITE MAISON D'AMOUR HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER. (She is on the left on the attached photo. :)
Scans, exams, and biopsy at the fabulous on island Hughes Medical Center have consumed all of her funds. Additionally, the required mastectomy and follow up treaments cannot be done on Anguilla. As a result it is necessary for her to travel elsewhere for treatment and surgery.
We are attempting to determine if she can receive care in England free of charge since Anguilla is a British Dependency. As that option seems unlikely we are pursuing and seeking any opportunity for treatment in the U.S. or Canada. Having already spent a few weeks on Antigua hoping for treatment those costs, MEDICAL ONLY, were $40,000 USD and as a result she had to leave the island. We expect the same quote if she does not qualify for free care in England. The England advantage is that she could stay with her son who is currently living there.
Two U.S. friends are currently attempting to find treatment with reduced costs in the U.S. We shall keep you posted on all options as we receive updates.
We expect her surgery and follow up treatment and recovery to be lengthy and costly. Therefore at this time we are asking for $5,000 to cover the cost of her flight(s) and to provide her some monies for living expenses when she first arrives. With these monies in hand she will be in a position to depart immediately. As soon as we know where she will be traveling we shall post that information and no doubt request additional funds.
Those of you who know and remember Pam realize that she would never ask for help or complain or whine or feel sorry for herself. She has done so much for others throughout her life. This is an opportunity to give back to her. Many thanks to all who have expressed an interest in helping.
