Angie’s Eye Surgery Support

Donation protected
- Recently in April 2019, Angie was diagnosed with a rare eye disease called Keratoconus. It is VERY advanced in her right eye and beginning in her left eye.  Currently, Angie's vision is compromised with one eye being able to see clearly. Without the surgery of cross-linking and PRK, Angie was told from the Dr. she would ultimately go blind. A humbling and generous donation was made by G.S. to pay for the surgery. The surgery is a commitment to post-op financial demands that are not supported by MSP or any other coverage. Below is her story.

Hi, thank you for viewing my go fund me page. Above states, my diagnosis. Since May 24th I am happy to say I had the surgery!!!

The doctor said it went well & I am currently in recovery. What this looks like is, my vision being blurry and gradually coming back over the course of a few months. I have to pay for post op visits to the optometrist. Eye Drops of several kinds & cover my living expenses while I’m not able to go and perform just yet.

I want to personally thank you, for your kindness and any & all help is appreciated. Especially during this time of not being able to work. No donation is too small or too big. If you’d like to read more about how I came to have this MIRACLE surgery occur keep reading...

I noticed about 6 months ago that my vision was different. I was under the impression that my prescription had changed. I didn't anticipate anything serious to be wrong. I was sent to see a cornea specialist and on the day of the appointment, I was diagnosed with Keratoconus. Dr. Holland and his team moved quickly to book me into the clinic where he does the procedure. I found out that the surgery is not covered by MSP.   I am a working musician, I don't have extended medical coverage. In sharing my story, I was determined to find a way to not lose my sight. I am 28 years old and I am up for big things in this world.  I feel called to be a stand before the government, have the laws changed. So others, like myself, don't have to suffer the injustice of losing sight due to the way the law is. I can only imagine young children, with parents who maybe aren't able to pay the cost of 4,100$ for the surgery and then cover further expenses.  I declared it powerfully in the office that day, I was not going to go blind.  I began to search all avenues and resources to have the surgery done. I had exhausted all options and time was not on my side, trying to find a solution. One evening, I was sharing with a group of people, what I am up against & how this is taking a toll on me and my loved ones.

A man by the name of Gordon felt called to be a cause in the miracle I so desperately needed. He walked up to me and said,  "I am going to pay for your surgery." I broke down and started to bawl my eyes out. I was SO deeply moved, touched and inspired by this. This man who was a complete stranger to me at the time. Offering his help, from the kindness and generosity of his own heart. He asked for nothing in return.  He said, he saw an opportunity to help & with his own life story, he felt called to do this for me.   Sharing the news with my parents was such a gift. I remember calling my mom at 10pm on a school night in tears.  We both cried, I put her on speaker phone so she could speak with Gordon. She knew her prayers had been answered.

The following day I booked my surgery, I was given a month to get my affairs in order, I reviewed the email talking about post-op expenses and healing time.

My clients have been incredibly understanding and supportive through this difficult time. My friends & family have stepped up to help with bookings, creating this go fund me page, being of massive moral support & so much more. I love you all so much. I am blessed to have people care for me the way you do.  I want to personally thank Brian Africa, for being a huge support to me, stepping in for me when needed.

During this time, I am going to be relying on my go fund me donations for financial assistance.  My goal, I believe is achievable. I am clear, I will need mandatory visits over the course of the year to see the doc, which is not covered.
Visits to the optometrist are 130$
Vitamins are 150$
Bion tears are 15$ per box
The cost of living expenses varies.
( if you’d like to contribute to anything specific please let me know )

I want to thank you again, from the depth of my heart for taking the time to read about my story, any and all donations at this point are very helpful. You may donate to go fund me or contact me directly. Thank you.
