Angels for Angie

Donation protected
In her young eight years of life, Angeline (Angie) had never missed a day of school. Her bubbly personality and boundless energy was always a bright spot in my second grade classroom. Then after the Christmas break of 2015, Angie did not return to school to begin the new year.  Right after New Year's 2016, Angie was diagnoised with Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer of smooth musscle tissue. Immediately after being diagnosed with ARMS, Angie underwent intensive weekly chemotherapy treatments for over 14 months at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Sadly after ending her rigouous treatments in March of 2017, Angie, now 9 years old, was not "cancer free". During the spring of 2017 Angie was experinecing abdominal pain and more tumors were discovered. Angie once again underwent chemotherapy treatments at RWJUH.  About 4 weeks ago Angie's scans showed that new tumors had developed on her left lung, liver, and upper spine.  Her oncologist decided to stopped treatments with the hopes of starting Angie on a Phase II clincial trial for XL184.  Unfortnatley  Angie's poor liver function has excluded her from this trial. Angie's oncologist also reached out to Sloan Kettering, CHOP and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and not one of these medical institutes has a clinical trial to offer Angie.

What I started as a campaign to assist Angie and her mom with travel expenses to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, has now tunred into a much bigger mission of affording Angie and her mom with the financial resources to seek alternative medical care and treatments that can lessen Angie's pain and increase her quality of life.

Angie started out as a little 7 year old student in my second grade class and has turned into a beloved sweet little girl I hold in my heart. I can honsetly say that
Angie, her mom, and two young sisters  are all very dear friends, not just of mine, but my husband and 11 year old girl/boy twins as well.

I want to thank everyone who has visited this campagin, shared the link, and donated to it.  I, Cindy, will be responsible for withdrawing all funds from the GoFundMe campaign and transferring these funds to the family's requested outside bank account. All the funds from this GoFundMe campaign will be used for Angie's continued care at home and her medical expenses.

Thank you all for being an Angel to Angie and her family.
XO- Cindy
