Hope for Angie Delio

Donation protected
My name is Monica and on behalf of my younger sister, Angie Delio, I would like to ask for your help through your thoughts, prayers, and donations. My younger sister is a single mother of her darling 8 year old son, Kai.  While she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 17 years ago at the young age of 20, she completed her LMSW and has been very involved in caring for others as a medical social worker at her local hospital.

Angie has had health insurance her entire life. However, when she needs it the most, Blue Cross of Idaho is refusing to cover the treatment that will potentially halt her recurring progression and allow her to live a productive life. Sadly Angie and her physicians have been fighting with Blue Cross for two years in hopes that they would cover this procedure as they do in other states.   Even with five specialists fighting for Angie, Blue Cross of Idaho has refused.

Over the years, Angie would have an exacerbation every year or so. Unfortunately, her health is deteriorating with six exacerbations in 2014 alone.  In October, she lost her vision was unable to walk, and barely able to sit up without assistance. While she has shown improvement the disease continues to progress.  A recent MRI showed significant activity with multiple new lesions on her brain and spinal cord.  Sadly this resulted in her inability to continue the work she loved.

Angie’s best hope for stopping the progression is a stem cell transplant.  While it is a fairly new procedure for MS patients, a significant number of cases show great promise resulting in halting progression.  The window of opportunity is narrowing.  Angie is still able to heal well but with each exacerbation there is a chance she will progress beyond her ability to heal.   This is why we need your help now!

Dr. Saccardi and his team in Italy have accepted Angie into their program as she meets criteria for a positive outcome.    He does the same procedure as the University of Washington but at 25% of the cost.

Please help Angie obtain the funds needed for the stem cell transplant so she can continue to be a productive social worker helping others and a mom to her wonderful son.

We greatly appreciate your thoughts, prayers and donations and please help spread the word.  Together we can keep Angie as part of our world.  Thank you. Monica Goodro
