This is my handsome grandson, Angel. He has fought so hard for his life the last 2 years. His mom is a single mother of 3 boys who all have the same rare disease called x-linked ALD. There is a movie based on a true story of the first known case of a child with X-linked ALD called , "Lorenzos Oil" if you are interested. It is a very rare disease that affects the brain where the brain declines and the child eventually turns into a vegetative state in most cases.
Angel started losing his memory at the age of 4, he lost his ability to walk and use the restroom at the age of 5, and had chemotherapy treatments and a bone marrow transplant to save his life last year. Now he is 6 years old, recovering from his transplant. He is living with other severe medical issues because he is recovering. At this time, Angels mom is unable to work outside the home because of how medically needy Angel is. The state will not pay for in home nursing care to help her with Angel.
The things this fundraiser will help provide for Angel are: a camode at bedside ($200), school clothes, shoes, and supplies, and a pet deposit for his companion( has been his dog since Angel was 1 years old) ($500). Because his immune system is still so weak, he cannot attend public school so he goes to school in the hospital. No transportation is provided to the hospital for schooling. ($30 gas/ week). Angels mom has applied for help with all of these things, but since he is out of transplant, there is now limited resources to help the family. After 2 years of applying, Angel is still waiting for disability.
