This campaign to help raise money to send Angelo on a homecoming trip to see his parents is organized by co-workers of Angelo Bul. Angelo is a security guard at our office. He is a kind man with a helpful attitude and a caring spirit. He always goes above and beyond to make sure our office is a great place to work. Angelo's story of how he came to live in America is incredible and we are motivated to help by his caring spirit and compelling life story. Angelo's immediate priority is to see his parents again and we want to help make that happen soon.
Who is Angelo and why is this GoFundMe campaign so important?
In 1986 at the age of 9 Angelo was separated from his family due to civil war that ravaged his village and country and left millions dead and tens of thousands of children and youth orphaned.
Angelo is one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan" who were resettled to the United States in 2001. The Lost Boys were thousands of young boys who were orphaned or separated from their families. Many, like Angelo, trekked thousands of miles through harsh and unforgiving environments to the safety of refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. Along the way many boys died and others were forced into war as child soldiers.
An agreement between Sudan, the United Nations and the United States resulted in the resettlement of thousands of Lost Boys across the United States. Angelo now lives in San Jose, CA. Adjusting to life in the United States has not been easy for Angelo and unforeseen illness and medical expenses forced him to set aside his educational and career goals. For now, he is working as a security guard and sends what little money he can to his family in Awei East (Kanajak), South Sudan.
Angelo has not seen or visited with his family for more than 30 years. His mother is in poor health and it is Angelo's highest priority to be reunited with his family and to bring medicine for his mother.
How will your donations help?
This campaign will stay active until the end of November 2017. All donations of any amount is greatly appreciated. Angelo will be the designated beneficiary. All money raised will be used to buy medicine for his mother and assist with airfare and travel related expenses such as immunizations, passport fees, etc.
There are so many worthwhile causes to choose from and Angelo is extremely thankful for your consideration, support, and generosity.
