Hello, my name is Angel Heaven Lee - Yep, that's my real name :) This is my story:
I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Gastroparesis and over the years, I have accumulated a lot of medical debt, mainly because for 2 years, while I fought to be approved for SSDI, I had no insurance coverage. My total debt is just under $12,000 and my Gastroenterologist I had been seeing for over 10 years, can no longer see me until I pay his practice and the medical facility what I owe. It's not his fault - he has to abide by the company rules and policies. Thankfully, he's working with me to settle the debt at a reduced total since I was able to make a "good faith payment" recently.
I've been unable to seek his medical advice and care for over a year now and my health is getting worse. I was able to squirrel away medication by getting my prescriptions filled before being "locked out" from his care. I've officially run out of meds and prescriptions for everything.. and am now self-treating with home remedies as best as I can.
My friend gave me this link months ago. I've always prided myself in being able to give back to others.. I've spent many years of my life volunteering to raise money, food, clothes, awareness, etc.. for others in our community.. and now I am needing the help! :)
A little about Gastroparesis:
(gastro-, "stomach" + -paresis, "partial paralysis"), also called delayed gastric emptying, is a medical condition consisting of a partial paralysis of the stomach, resulting in food remaining in the stomach for an abnormally long time. Normally, the stomach contracts to move food down into the small intestine for additional digestion. The vagus nerve controls these contractions. Food then moves slowly or stops moving through the digestive tract.
