Help Send Angela to Spain!

Dear Friends and Family,

Over the last couple of months, I took a huge leap of faith and submitted an application to live and work abroad for five months, teaching English to students as a Language and Culture Assistant in Spain. I prayed and waited for a response, and I’ve officially been accepted for a position through the Council on International Educational Exchange! Starting this January, I will be working with high school students in the municipality of Ubrique, which is located in the southern part of Spain in the province of Cádiz.

Through the Teach Abroad program, I will assist teachers in the classroom by working through English lesson plans, planning activities, presenting on American culture, and participating in school and community events. Having daily interaction with the students will give me the chance to empower them to pave the path for new opportunities to learn and grow in their own country, and build relationships with others from around the world.

With such a rich mixture of people, nature, architecture, history, and culture, Spain has an amazing melting pot of ideas, values and experiences that make it unique. I believe that teaching there would be a wonderful chance to experience what it’s like to see diversity in action, and I look forward to being a part of it!  As a Language and Culture Assistant in Spain, I will have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live and work abroad in a place that is meshed in between a variety of cultures and traditions.

As a short-term goal, I want to learn more about myself and those around me, how to manage and adjust to a different way of life in another part of the world, and support the qualities and gifts that young people have to offer, especially when they have someone to believe in them and help them work towards their dreams. As a long-term goal, I want to pursue opportunities that will challenge me and enrich my curiosity and passion for learning about others. I want to find ways to help people share their stories and gain the confidence and drive to use their gifts and abilities to live out their purpose.

Teaching is an amazing way to give others a chance to explore the wonderful experiences life has to offer when we open our hearts and minds to the potential that lies within us, individually and collectively as a whole.

With that being said, I would love to invite you to join me on this journey! If you are interested in following me during my time abroad, I will be posting updates on social media and blogging about my experiences.

Until then, I still have a long way to go in sorting out the details of moving to a new country, including making up the rest of the finances. After the start of my second month in Spain, I will receive a monthly stipend from the Ministry of Education to help towards paying rent. However, the program cost, airfare, other travel expenses, and all costs during the first month (first+last month’s rent, deposit, and money for food) must be saved up beforehand. As I set out on this new journey, I would like to reach out to you and ask for your prayers, advice, and help in getting closer to my goal.

If you'd like to contribute financially towards my trip, I’ve set up this GoFundMe account which you can donate to directly and share with anyone else you know that would like to help out. Every little bit goes a long way, and whatever you are able to give will make a huge difference towards this exciting new chapter abroad.

If you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share, please feel free to send me a message or give me a call, and I would be glad to connect with you and talk about it!

I am so thankful for your time, encouragement and support, and I look forward to learning and growing together in the days ahead!

 Love and Blessings,

 -Angela Luchko
