Help Angela Stop Foreclosure

Donation protected

To my friends, family, acquaintances and generous supporters who we've yet to meet...

As many of you know, this is my dear friend, Angela Pohakuola. We've had a special sister bond since the day we met over 16 years ago when she was an artist at our House of Blues Folk Art Festival in Orlando. I knew instantly that she was a very special woman. She's a loving, generous, devoted friend and mother. No matter what's going on in her life, she tries to live life to the fullest and bring joy and healing to others.

What amazes me most is that you would never know the challenges she's overcome in her life by her attitude. She's survived child abuse, breast cancer, near death experiences, and an emotionally abusive husband, and instead of being filled with anger or resentment, her heart is filled with love and gratitude. Just by being who she is, she makes me want to be a better person.

About three years ago, Angela's husband accepted a job in Oahu, Hawaii, so Angela and her son moved there to be with him. In March 2015, her husband was fired from his job and he abandoned Angela and their son in Oahu to fend for themselves. Within a week he'd shipped all his belongings to Ohio and cleaned out their bank account leaving them with only $147 dollars to live on.

$147... that's it.

Can you imagine the fear of being abandoned with no money in the bank, no way to pay the bills or buy food, and no income to sustain you?

Angela's financial situation is dire. She's on food stamps and her home is in foreclosure. Her son, who grew up with special needs, has tried to contribute what he can but it's been difficult. Most of her friends have no idea this has been going on. She is a proud woman and she hasn't wanted to burden her friends with her troubles, but she can't do it alone anymore.

She needs our love, but more importantly, right now she needs our financial support.

Angela's in the process of getting a divorce so she can close that chapter of her life and begin to heal from the years of severe emotional abuse. Her husband has dragged out the process over a year to avoid paying her any support thus far, so she's been surviving on her own.

Her husband has a lawyer, but Angela does not have the funds to hire one for herself so her interests and her son's, as he still lives with her, are not being protected. She needs legal advice immediately to help guide her through the divorce and possibly avoid the pending foreclosure. She will be going into mediation in the next two weeks so the need is urgent.

I understand Angela's reluctance to talk about what's going on in her life. She wants the focus to be on positive things and I admire that about her.

I know how many lives Angela has touched with her healing sessions, inspired pendants, stone readings, tours and workshops. She gives to others freely, in fact, too freely at times. And that's why I wanted to start this campaign.

I want to let Angela know we have her back.

That she doesn't have to do this alone.

And we love her.

Please consider giving what you can to Angela's fund. The money will be used to pay for legal advice, to stop the foreclosure if possible, and if not, to help secure a place for her and her son to live.

Walter Winchell said, "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

If you've known a woman who had to choose to stay in an abusive relationship rather than be thrown out on the street, you have an idea of what Angela's been through.

I will be so grateful if you could let this amazing woman know you care and you stand with her as she rebuilds her life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you... from the bottom of my heart.

Kathy
