Angel's Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Angel Pai, our inspirational sister and one of the most hard-working and unendingly selfless givers we know, is in need of assistance.  This Solstice and Solar Eclipse brought an unexpected burn for our beautiful friend. In the midst of Covid-19, her home was badly damaged by a fire that took over 20 firefighters to extinguish.

Fortunately, no-one was injured. However, she was informed that her insurance company may disqualify her claim and not cover any of the losses and damage. So she’s been having to go through the rebuilding and recovery process herself, and bracing for the worst.

She’s too silently strong and humble to want to trouble others during this time of difficulty for so many, so we’re shining a light on her because we know that everyone needs help sometimes. I was moved to help Angel set up this fund so that I could give money to it. I feel like there is so little social safety net for us right now, that any little freak of circumstance could leave us homeless, and I want to disprove that by showing that community cares. And I'm sure those who can, however little or much, will support those who have chosen to dedicate their lives to helping others by uplifting the underrepresented and their causes.

Angel is one of these people.

Most recently, she was one of the first to jump to the aid of others during the Covid-19 pandemic by starting a fully-volunteer based nonprofit called Keep Breathing NYC (https://www.keepbreathing.world/) to provide open-source designs and manufacturing of 3D-printed ventilator splitters, then donating splitters, intubation boxes, ear savers and respirators for front-line medical staff.

She is continually fostering inclusion and awareness of those in need and hosted NYC VIBE segments on PBS All Arts, which gave a voice to humanitarian efforts in the fields of arts, fashion, and entertainment. She’s also an active voice against gender-based violence and was MC of the Break the Silence Awards to end FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). The list goes on, and the projects she directs her time and energy into all have the theme of helping others.

She’s been supporting herself and her family through her media work and hand-crafting pieces for her own jewelry line, Illumin Designs (https://www.illumindesigns.com/) that she started by herself - from designing and hand-making each piece with love, down to the photography and website. Even with her jewelry line she's found ways to give back. She's donated pieces to fundraisers to support public arts, education, and working with foundations to empower women and children. She’s one of the hardest-working people we know. Often, those of us who are up working at 2 AM in California have witnessed her doing the same… except it’s already 5 AM New York where she lives.

If you’re able, we know she would greatly appreciate any assistance to repair the damage to her childhood home, no matter how large or small.

If you can’t, even kind words of encouragement will help as we want to give back to her in all forms and have her know that there are those who support and appreciate her and her work as much as she’s given to others without asking for anything in return.

We see these crises as a chance to prove that human beings are still worthwhile as a species. Thank you for helping!

We love you, and we know Angel does too.
