You have an opportunity to help a new organization grow from the ground up by creating "A New Breed of Service Dogs".
THE NEED:
We have started a new non-profit organization that will be based in Visalia, CA and dedicated to raising and training service dogs for people in need. As a dog trainer and behavior consultant I see an endless demand for service dogs but not nearly the supply of quality dogs that can withstand the mental and physical demands a Service Dog must endure. This non-profit, California Service Dog Academy , will be a complement to Your Pro Dog Trainer and a way for us to give back to our community.
"A New Breed of Service Dog" will be English Golden Retrievers that come from proven lines. Proven lines, to us, mean lines that are health tested prior to breeding, demonstrate longevity, and whose temperaments exemplify what we want in Service Dog candidates.
WHAT THE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR:
We are looking to buy 2-4 female Golden Retriever puppies this year (2018) from excellent lines so we can have a good foundation group of dogs that hopefully in about two years can help us create a breeding program that will produce great dogs for people with disabilities.
Since spring litters are being planned and conceived as I type, I am starting to look for people who might be willing to sponsor the purchase of a puppy to help us get started! In return you will get naming rights to the puppy and one day can have one of her puppies if you want one! Good quality puppies are between $3,000-4,000 each; this cost is because of all the health testing and temperament testing done on the parents and puppies. In my opinion they are worth every penny, and they represent the kind of dogs I think most people need in a service dog and the kind of dogs we want to provide.
Any additional donations will be used for all expenses associated with the raising and training of the puppies for the coming years. We estimate each puppy will have annual expenses of about $3,000 including insurance, food, veterinary bills, and other supplies; this excludes training expenses. Your Pro Dog Trainer will be helping to get this initiative started by donating our time and facilities to house, raise and train the puppies.
*Puppies and dogs will live in our homes with us as part of our family!!
TRAINING PHILOSOPHY:
We are dedicated to using positive, kind and humane training methods. Our staff has multiple certifications including Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), Certified Behavior Consultant Canine (CBCC-KA) and Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
WHO WE ARE:
California Service Dog Academy (CSDA) is already registered as an entity in the State of California and we expect our California Tax Exempt Status and Federal 501(c)3 status to be completed soon in case you are interested and want a tax deduction.
CSDA was founded by the owners of Your Pro Dog Trainer, a for-profit LLC dedicated to helping dogs and their owners be more successful together. We also help with owner trained Service Dogs! Our services include selection, evaluation, and continued training of dogs for Service Work. You can read more about our qualifications HERE .
