Andy's Fight Against Colon Cancer!
Donation protected
Hello friends, family and visitors! As many of you know, Andy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on February 7, 2014. He has gone through 1 round of chemo and 3 surgeries so far. In just a few weeks he will be starting his second round of chemo.
For those who don't know Andy, he was a Master Patrolman at the Lexington Police Department until he was transferred to dispatch following his cancer diagnosis. He has recently had to apply for disability due to a combination of the lack of sick/vacation/leave hours he has after multiple surgeries and lingering side effects from chemo treatments.
Cancer is a very, VERY expensive disease. It's hard to pay for even with medical insurance and a full time job. That is why I am reaching out to you. Many people have asked how they can help, and this is a great way. I don't expect much, but even if you can donate a dollar and share this with your friends and family it would be outrageously helpful!
In September, Andy visited the cancer center and was seen by the Nurse Practitioner for approximately 30 minutes. His bill from that came out to be $359. This is one of many visits. Appointments with his oncologist are obviously more.
His second surgery amounted to $33,499. This included his room, any medications he recieved, operating room costs, anesthesia, recovery room costs, and $13,844.57 of "medical supply costs". And he has had three surgeries since July.
Each chemo treatment he received cost $4,752.74 (after insurance). His first round he did 12 cycles, and he is about to start back again.
Thank you so much!
