The New Farm

Welcome to our updated GoFundMe page.    We are now raising money for rent, maintenance, and future programming.

During this unusual year, we have used the downtime to develop the New Farm Community Center.  There are now two beautiful nurseries, with decks, a viewing platform, a living roof,  and an incredible array of plants.  Our music pavilion has been completed.  A new food garden has been planted.  We are close to completing our environmental funland.   

Thank you to all those who previously made donations and made it possible for us to get this far.  And thank you, in advance, to everyone who will make a donation that allows us to continue and prosper.   We look forward to all kinds of programming when we all can get together.

My name is Andy Pollack, and I was Director of Crossroads Community (The Farm) in the 1980s (Youtube; the farm sf).   I recently became President of Green City Project, Inc., a nonprofit with the mission of promoting ecological sustainability.

We now have the chance to reimagine the Farm and create a new community space with farm animals, native plants, food production, performing arts, visual arts, children's activities, and environmental education.

Your donation can make The New Farm a reality:  a community space where children can experience a small-scale urban farm with goats, chickens, insect  exhibitions, aquaponics, bicycle powered compost bins, vegetable and herb gardens, and fruit trees, amongst bike powered rides, a camera obscura, and maybe even some miniature golf holes.  There is also room for a greenhouse/classroom and outdoor performances.

Green City Project will be working in conjunction with Bay Natives Nursery, a source of native plants for the Bay Area for over thirteen years.  Bay Natives, and the site of The New Farm, is located at Pier 96, Port of SF, across from Heron's Head Park, in the Bayview.  Together, we will promote the use of native plants, and create a new community/educational center.
