Andrew Runs for Cancer Research

My name is Andrew Fabian, and I am running in the 2022 Philadelphia Marathon in support of The Oral Cancer Foundation.
This year, an estimated 1.9 million people will be diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, this disease has likely left its mark on you through a loved one, a friend, or someone you know and care about.
On the 29th of November 2019, my mom - Theresa Ann Fabian - lost her life during her third battle with throat cancer. She was a loving mother and role model to four boys, and an amazing wife of 33 years to my dad Chris.
My mom was brave. She was resilient. She was beautiful. We all have our stories - please take a few minutes to watch the clip I shared above to hear more about mine.
Here are my asks. I challenge you to complete at least 3 of the 4.
- Donate if you are able. Any donation will help make an impact. The Oral Cancer Foundation is the largest non-profit serving patients and their caregivers for oral cancer. Let's make a difference together.
- Mend things with a friend or loved one. Our time on earth is finite. Reach out to a friend or family member you've fallen out of touch with and do your best to patch things. I promise you won't ever regret that decision.
- Support those who don't have a support system. I consider myself extremely lucky. I have a strong support system between my immediate family, friends, and coworkers. Join me in pledging to extend support to at least one person who may not have that support system. Together we can make an immeasurable difference.
- Reach out to me. If you are going through a loss or a struggle (cancer-related or otherwise), or need a listening ear, I encourage you to reach out.
My mom kept a journal beside her bed in her final month of life. In it, we discovered she had written, "Be brave, live your life!" Those are words I now live by. That was her - that was my mom.
