Hi, we are not sure how this works. We have never been in this situation nor did we ever expect to be, but we are now needing to ask our friends , family and strangers for help, we need your help to go see our Dad and so his grandchildren may also get to see him one last time and get him the the proper things he needs right now. This was a very hard decision to make.
On May 5th, our father Andrew was attacked in his own home by an intoxicated man half his age. Andrew was severely injured. He suffered a complete C-3 fracture , along with C-4 and C-5. His spinal cord has almost been severed. There is no surgeries that can repair the damage that was caused. He now has to rely on full life support and is now a full Quadrapoligic with out a speaking voice. He has been able to mouth words and we have been trying to lip read what he is asking and saying. He underwent a 9 hour surgery for bone reconstruction , a permenant tracheotomy and a pace maker to keep his heart beat from dropping and sending him into cardiac arrest , like he has suffered multiple times already.
Andrew is the type of person who would give a complete stranger the shirt off his back. He has 3 kids that love him very much, and 5 grandchildren, a mother of 91 years young and several brothers and sisters, but we are not financially able to get the help he needs. Right now he needs an Ipad for communication as his children live in Prince George and Quesnel and he is in Vancouver General Hospital in the spinal cord step down unit ( spinal cord ICU). We are not in the financial postion to take anymore time off of work due to trying topay our bills and provide for our families. Any donations would be a huge help and very appreciated as this will be all for travel to and from Vancouver and everything our Dad needs at this time. He will later require further medical equipment and communication devices.
Heaven forbid, but if Andrew does not make it though, all donations sent will then be given to the childrens hospital or the ICU to help someone else in need., in his memory.
