Andres urgently needs surgery

Andres has developed a severe infection in his digestive system that can only be removed surgically. This past year my good friend Andres Rangel was diagnosed with HIV.  He was staying in New York on a visa when he received the news. New York is one of the best places to get treatment for such a condition and, for the time being, Andres was able to receive the medical care he needed. Unfortunately he could not afford to renew his visa and was forced to return to Costa Rica, where he is unable to get the same treatment his body responded well to in NY. His inmune system is currently unprotected, since he hasn't been assigned a proper antiretroviral treatment yet.

Advances in medicine have made it possible for people with HIV to live normal, healthy lives, but the surgery Andres needs requires a specialist and the state-sponsored system protocols have forced Andres to wait longer than he should, considering his vulnerable condition. Without proper funds in place Andres will not be able to undergo this procedure, which could save his life. He is an extraodinarily talented artist, highly-regarded professor and a beautiful person.
