Andrea's Trip To Myanmar

Donation protected
I'M GOING TO MYANMAR!!!

As many of you know, last year Joel had the amazing opportunity to go to Myanmar to visit the orphanges that our church supports through Calvary Global Kids. Well, this February it is my turn!

THE INSPIRATION...

After hearing about Joel's trip, I too wanted to help continue our church's work and support in Myanmar. To these orphans, knowing that a community of people from all the way across the world actually cares for them, enough to not only to support them financially but to come and visit, is incredibly impactful. Most of these children have never known having a family and bringing that feeling to them is just as valuable as the tangible gifts we take. Listening to Joel's stories and the experiences of others who have gone before me, I've learned that as much of the love and support that we give to these children and their community, our return is even greater. The amount of prayers, joy, unfaltered faith, and open arm hospitality given to us are not only inspiring, but life changing.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING THERE?

There are a lot of ways our going benefits the children there. Each orphanage provides children with food, shelter, clothing, educational supplies, basic healthcare, and spiritual discipleship. As a team we will be taking supplies, visiting the different orphanages, doing activities with the children and most importantly, spending time with them.

In addition to the things listed above, I too, like my husband on his trip last year, will be bringing a camera and using it to take photos of all the orphans for the purpose of updating and bettering their chances of sponsorship.  As you may know, Joel and I are photographers by trade. Last year Joel's photography and computer skills came in handy as he took many portraits and candid photos of the orphans as well as capturing the day to day life at the orphanages. His time spent on restructuring Calvary's Global Kids webpage also made it easier and accessible for potential sponsors and donations. Many of Joel's photos were used in social media and publication to help raise awareness and support for the orphans. My goal is to help continue this work since new children are brought to the orphanages each year and they are more likely to be sponsored if they are seen on the webpage.

In the end, I'm sure God will use me in other ways than what I can plan or imagine. I'm very excited for this opportunity and look forward to how God can use me and teach me at the same time.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

There are a few ways that you can be a part of the good works being done in Myanmar.

Help me get there:
First, is to help me directly by supporting this GoFundMe campaign and helping me get to the orphanage this Februsry. Your donation will go to cover my travel expenses, which includes one and a half suitcases of delivered supplies. Any amount received above my goal will go directly to Calvary's Global Kids Fund.

Ways to give: The simplest way is to donate to this GoFundMe campaign. It's easiest for you but keep in mind that a small percentage does go to GoFundMe for processing fees. If you'd like to cut out the fees, (more important for a sizeable donation), or would like it to be tax deductible, you can give directly here via the Calvary Global Kids website. There is NOT a credit card option this way, only direct withdrawl from a bank account. To make sure they know it is for me, in the "one-time giving amount" field please include my name. For example: $200.00 for Andrea Knepper's trip.

Sponsor a child:
Second, is to choose to directly sponsor a child through Calvary's Global Kids. It is a $40/month contribution that maintains basic care, including food, clothing, and education. More information can be found here: http://www.calvaryglobalkids.org/sponsorship/

Write a letter:
If you are unable to give financially, you can still help to make a difference in the lives of the children by writing a letter of encouragement! As I touched on above, feeling the love of an outside community has a great impact on the children. You can find specifics on what to write, where to send the letters, etc here: http://calvaryglobalkids.org/write-a-letter/

Finally, pray for the children there and for a safe trip for all those going.
