I am an individual that LOVES to go on mission trips and help people in need, no matter where they may be found. I have the time and desire to use my training to help as many people around the world as I can. I have gone on several medical and non medical mission trips in the last 11 years and plan to continue for years to come.
I am raising funds for future travel costs.
I will keep this account updated with each trip and requested amount for travel and the current foundation that I am traveling with. My next trip is to Cameroon, Africa with Mercy Ships and my goal is to raise $3,000 by March 10th.
What the heck is Mercy Ships you ask?! Mercy Ships is the world’s largest civilian hospital ship which provides state of the art care to those in desperate need. Mercy Ships utilizes hospital ships as a platform to transform lives and serve nations one at a time. Because more that 75% of the world’s population lives within 100 miles of a port city, a hospital ship can reach many people. Over the last few years the Africa Mercy has made stops in Madagascar, Benin, and Cameroon - typically all for a year at a time. Many people in Africa have little or no access to healthcare. There are only 2.5 physicians per 10,000 people in Africa, compared to 25 physicians per 10,000 in the United States. The Africa Mercy brings volunteer medical teams and sterile operating rooms directly to people who would otherwise go without care. As an operating room nurse, I will be working alongside volunteers from over 49 nations to provide life changing surgery, and care for the people of Africa. This experience is a dream, and I could not be more excited to go!
