Andrea Miller’s Surgery

Our dear friend Andrea needs our help. We know a strong, loving, independent friend who gives selflessly to others - whether it’s been keeping the book at the boys’ baseball games, through church, raising her three beautiful sons, or being a friend to each of us. Now, we have a chance to give back to her in her time of need. 

This July, Andrea was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a meningioma. It was affecting her hearing and causing headaches and vertigo. Luckily it was successfully, completely removed on 10/18/18. She was hospitalized for nearly a week post-operatively, and is now recovering at home. She will not be able to return to work for several months, and has lost all the hearing in her left ear. 

As you can imagine, this unexpected cost has put a significant burden on her. She has made the 500 mile round trip three times already, incurring gas and hotel costs (which we estimate costs about $350 per trip), and we have been told that she will be going for between 3 and 5 more visits to follow up with her surgeons this year alone (though her follow ups will stretch out to the five year mark). She has health insurance, but has a significant out-of-pocket deductible to meet, plus prescriptions, co-pays for visits, and potential out-of-network fees. She will be out of work for months, much of which is unpaid time off. 

Her friends and family have been generous in their outpouring of love, support, and prayers. She has people to stay with her, make meals for her and the boys, and help with tasks around the home. What is needed now is financial support.
