Andrea Abruzzo Medical Struggles

Donation protected
Over the last four months Andrea has been dealing with multiple medical issues. In November she was rushed in for emergency surgery to repair a perforation in her intestines. On Thanksgiving morning the biopsy results came in and we found out that Andrea's cancer had returned. Treatment began and initially it looked like everything was going well.  We hoped that at some point a Bone Marrow Transplant would take place. Unfortunately her blood counts are low subjecting her to numerous infections and many hospital stays. In December her left leg suddenly ballooned to twice its normal size and after various tests nothing definitive gave us an answer as to why. Andrea made it through Christmas Eve but became extremely sick on Christmas Day resulting in another hospitalization. Since then she has experienced a number of setbacks which forced a stop to the planned cancer treatments going forward. On February 19th Andrea became violently ill and has only been home for 36 hours since then thus missing out on Avery's 5th Birthday, her own birthday and Easter. Recently Andrea was experiencing internal bleeding that lasted for several days. On March 1st Andrea lost the use of her left leg. After multiple tests and treatments no definitive cause has been determined. It looks as though this paralysis is going to be permanent. On March 28th Andrea was transferred to a Rehabilitation Facility for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. She is very weak. Her weight is down to 97 pounds. Being flat on her back all of those weeks has caused her to lose muscle town which makes PT and OT very difficult, exhausting and painful. Andrea obviously has been unable to work in months. Ray, in an effort to keep Avery's life as normal as possible has been unable to work even close to full time. In addition to the stress of trying to regain strength, financial stresses are starting to creep in. Modifications are going to need to be made in the home and Andrea must first display the strength necessary before she can even be considered for discharge. To make it a little less stressful for Andrea so that she can concentrate on trying to get stronger, and hopefully so she can come home, we ask that you consider helping out with a donation. It doesn't matter how small a donation. Please keep Andrea in your prayers. This is going to be a long and frustrating process so we would appreciate it if you can share this posting on any and all Social Media Platforms that you participate in. Thank you.
