Hi, my name is Andie Fields. I am 11 years old and was born with hearing loss from being premature. It has been slowly getting worse and I am now 93% deaf.
Some people think that if you have a disability like mine you can't do every day things like other people. All my short life I have been proving them wrong! When people know before they meet me that I have hearing aids they definitely treat me differently, whether its teachers or just a stranger in a store. Once they get to know me, they see I am just like every other kid(maybe a little better ☺). Most of the time people that don't know I have hearing aids are shocked when they find out because they can't believe how well I do.
I love to sing, dance and do theater with all my friends from Show on the Road. My instructor Jessica Schoenfeld says "Andie Fields has been my student for three years and is learning singing, acting, ballet, acrobatics and other styles of dance, while excelling in school and extra-curricular activities. She is a sweet, smiling girl who is always ready to learn something new! I am proud of all her accomplishments so far."
I remember the day I found out I was deaf. When the doctor told my mom she burst out crying. I was only five years old, yet I remember turning to her and said "Mommy it could be wayyyy worse!" That has always been my outlook. Now when I go for appointments to get my hearing checked the doctors always ask me to talk to the other patients about not allowing my disability to hold me back.
The goal of this Go Fund Me is to help me to get new aids which are about $4,099 each
any extra funds that we raise will used to help others with hearing loss.
I have had the same pair of hearing aids since I was five years old and usually you get new one every three to four years. Since they are so expensive and insurance does not pay anything for them, it is so hard to come up with that much money every couple of years.
So if you please help contribute towards new hearing aids it would be very very greatly appreciated.
