Andy and Dixie's 80th Birthday

Help us celebrate Andy and Dixie's 80th Birthday! 

Born in 1936, married in 1955, and beginning a family in 1960,  Andy and Dixie have had much to celebrate over the years with their three children and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  However, as happens to many adults (especially seniors), birthday celebrations commemorating them and their accomplishments go by the wayside. 

So before their 80th birthday, a significant milestone, we kids (Dave, Karen, and Tim) got together and hatched a plan by asking - "what would they want more than anything else for their birthday?"  We concluded what they love most is family.  What they would cherish most is time spent with their family doing something memorable. 


We looked at several options and decided the best memory making event would be something we could all enjoy together.  Rather than gifts, food and cake it had to be something significant and something we would all enjoy.  This birthed the idea of taking a cruise together.   Juggling 4 schedules and getting though the holidays was a bit of a hurdle but we finally found a date that worked, and we are excited to be sailing from New Orleans to Cozumel and Progresso Mexico on the Carnival Triumph this spring.



There is no gift we could give our parents that would be greater than creating an experince where they can enjoy five uninterrupted days of being together and having fun together, something that has not happened since we were children. 

We are inviting friends and family to enjoy this celebration with us by humbly asking if you would help fund it.  Think of it as your birthday present to our mom and dad!  Your generous gift of $5 or $50 or even $500 will go to pay for Mom and Dad's expenses.  In addition to the cabin fees, we will use the money for travel, insurance, on board extras etc.

Any leftover funds will go toward the group activities we hope to take with them such as a submarine tour (Dad was in the Navy) of one of the most beautiful reefs in this hemisphere.


We also hope to visit to the ancient Mayan Pyramid at Chichen Itza - one of the 7 wonders of the modern world! 


This is truly a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. If you know our parents, you know how much Dad loves the sea and a camera; and you will get a play by play from Mom on social media.

We cannot express our gratitude for our parents and the chance to spend this time with them celebrating their eighty+ years of life.  We may never have another chance like this.  Your participation will make it all the more meaningful, and will allow us to do  more than we imagined to create a lasting lifetime memory with them.
