Hey, I'm Hamish and I'm raising funds for a short documentary called "And Ultimately, frisbee".
The documentary will be about the importance of finding your community. Through my lens I will describe and take you into the world of ultimate Frisbee.
This is a really exciting opportunity for me as a student film maker, because its my first time solo directing / directing a documentary. And primarily because I have a deeply personal connection to the sport and community of frisbee.
Friss to me is a place that has developed so many aspects of what make me, me.
my personality, social life, competitive drive, self believe/confidence and even self worth. its been the background to some of my strongest friendships, happiest memories and even caused some of the saddest and most heart breaking moments as well.
I wouldn't give it up for the world.
The tone of the film will be a bit tongue-in-cheek making fun of the inherently silly nature of sports, and the general perception of frisbee from those not involved in the scene. while also being genuine and sincere, even though I know I'm chasing a plastic disc and I look like a fool, its still the highlight of my week, month and year.
How we plan on using the funds:
- hiring fields, and paying the council for permission to to film ($200 deposit plus $70 an hour for filming,) 2 shooting days of around 4 hours means $760 if we don't get our deposit back - we might have to pay more if we want to put up any marque or if we want to play with footy boots.
- estimated $280 for catering feeding crew plus providing food for talent (20 athletes)
- the rest of the funds will be used to enter the film into various film festivals ranging from $50 -$150
