And They Thought They Were Too Old!

Donation protected
As many of you already know, our very dear friends Deb and Alane, have been talking about their “motorhome dream” for over 20 years and how they want to be full-time RVers. Yes! It’s been that long! :) They just figured out how long it’s been as they looked back to when this dream was first born. Year after year, it seemed the dream was being derailed by something.  Deb’s health problems, and grief in losing family members. There was also Alane’s breast cancer, and two surgeries for that, and then this year her rotator cuff surgery.  Alane also had to work more after her retirement from the state.  Deb would have to face a new and more frustrating health challenge.  On top of her fibromyalgia and arthritis her parathyroid was damaged during her thyroid surgery. A hospitalization for severe high calcium levels resulted in an ongoing battle to keep her levels balanced. Something seemed to always postpone their dream! Financial  burdens of doctors, hospitals, and vet bills, would set them behind again and again. They have also experienced a lot of grief over the passing of all three sweet Tibetan Terriers (doogles) Buie, Beazie, and Auggie. The dogs were always a big part of the “motorhome dream” and the fun they would have traveling with them. Although discouraged at times they never gave up their Dream. Which was inspiring, I must admit!

One of the first steps in fulfilling their dream was to sell the house and downsize.  That’s where I (Anna) entered the picture. I got to buy that beautiful house!!!  And have them as my housemates. :) I was so blessed because it seemed all the years they spent fixing up the house with all of Deb’s nice touches, was as if they were doing it just for me :) I couldn’t have been happier with the purchase of my first home.  It is my ideal house! :) I will forever be grateful ! And as you can likely imagine, us all living together was an adventure all on its own! : )

Deb and Alane have enriched my and Frankie’s lives in so many ways, more than we can ever count. From roommates, friends, to life coach and spiritual mentors, they taught me how to have a deep love for dogs, and how to take care of a house.  I have a friendship I will always hold dearly for the rest of my life. Frankie has known Deb and Alane long before the motorhome Dream. We all have spent the summer renovating the motorhome that they  were finally able to purchase in April of this year. And, it is so cute! Like a little cottage on wheels! Wait until you see the before and after pictures! Or just come by the Motorhome Open House we will be having on September 29, 2018. You can drop in anytime between 3:30pm and 7pm.

When they finally found their motorhome online, the pieces began to fall into place for their full time RVing dream to actually happen. This is when both Frankie and I saw a whole new HOPE emerge in them.  It was a blessing to see! Also within the past year, two new sweet rescue dogs (Pheenie and Gracie Mae) came into their lives and are providing much needed joy. Deb and Alane are excited about taking them on adventures and having them as their trusty motorhome companions. They had always joked about how Auggie would probably get them kicked out of motorhome parks. But, Gracie, has taken over that barking duty better than one could have imagined! :) It’s a good thing she’s so cute!

So they think they might still be kicked out! :) That is why they want to “Boondock”. I had no idea what that was, but they say it’s where you park out in beautiful scenery in the middle of nowhere, with no hook ups. Let me tell you, it’s hard not to worry about them! One of both mine and Frankie’s concerns has been whether or not they could drive that big ole’ 35 ft. motorhome! Or, will they remember where they parked it, or remember to take the keys out of the ignition (but that is another story for another time). : ) But, as it turns out, Alane used to drive a big ole' school bus ( I guess, a secret she has kept from many)! We now have seen how she manages that captain seat quite well, and Deb is getting the hang of it too.

So, just today when they took the motorhome in for some final tune ups. They had a big surprise, when on the drive there the front heater vents started smoking and fogging up the windows. They found out the estimate to get just that part fixed would be $1400!  That isn’t even what they took it in for! That’s just the first phase of the repairs. They have already put a lot into it, and their motorhome fund has dwindled. They have talked for so long about wanting to get solar panels to “boondock” and be able to save money to be able to travel. This is one of the reasons Frankie and I want to set up this Go Fund Me account.  Shhh! They don’t know about it yet.  :) IT’S A SURPRISE! We don’t want them to get stuck somewhere and need repair money and not have it. We want them to be able to get those solar panels.  And, we want to able to lighten their financial load and enjoy their Dream of traveling.

That is why we are inviting you to share with us to support and encourage them by the joy of giving to these two special friends of all of ours. They want to hit the road the beginning of October so let’s not let this new repair slow them down.

I know many of you know and love them as Frankie and I do, and want to see their adventures thrive. So, if you want and are able to give, please join us in gifting whatever amount you are able to bless them with to better ensure that their travels with this 20+ year old dream are as worry free as possible. You can give big or small or even monthly. I am sure that all donations will be appreciated. Let’s show them that we believe they are NOT “too old” and are still young at heart to do this! I know your love and support of their travels will mean so very much to them and will lift that  load off their shoulders. They have also talked about a blog to let people know where they are and what they are up to along the way. You know wherever they are, it will be an exciting adventure, and there will always be a story to tell that will make you laugh and smile! So check back here often to see if there is a link set up to that blog, and follow along. If there is someone you know that knows Deb or Alane that I may have missed, please pass this along. Thank you for your love and support. I think they will be really blessed by this.

With much heartfelt gratitude,
Anna & Frankie
